  • Melanie L. Donis, DVM

    An animal lover and rescuer from the start, Dr.Donis grew up in Orlando, Florida  and received her veterinary degree from the University of Florida in 1997. She then attended a one-year feline and canine internship at South Shore Animal Hospital in South Weymouth, Mass. There she focused on advancing her diagnostic and surgical skills while surrounded by a team of veterinary specialists. She moved to Southern Maryland in 1998 to work at St. Mary’s Veterinary Hospital up until the opening of Companion Care Veterinary Hospital in February of 2009. At the hospital she takes a special interest in dentistry, senior care, and greyhound medicine. After hours she enjoys spending time with family which consists of her husband, son, daughter, 2 horses, 3 dogs, 2 cats, 2 ferrets, chickens and fish!  During nice weekends she can be found on the soccer fields with her son or riding horses with her daughter.

  • Jennifer Kosich, D.V.M.

    Dr. Kosich joined Companion Care Veterinary Hospital in November 2009, after moving with her family form Virginia Beach, Virginia. She currently works part time and spends some of her time assisting local rescue groups. She graduated from Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine, on the campus of Virginia Tech, in 2002. She has had the opportunity to work in small animal clinics in many states thanks to her husband's job as an pilot for the Marine Corp. They reside in Leonardtown with her 3 children, 3 dogs, 1 cat and a rabbit.

  • Micheal Wise, D.V.M

    Dr. Wise received his Bachlor of Science Degree from the University of Maryland in 1969.  He then attended the Univeristy of Illnois where he received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 1973. Dr. Wise precticed general Veterinary Medicine from 1973 until 1978.  He decided his true passion was in radiology and attended a Radiology Residency at the University of Minnesota from 1978-1981.  He has been a Radiology / Ultrasound / and Endoscopy consultant to multiple veterinary practices in Maryland.

  • Cathee Brinkley, RVT, Hospital Administrator

    Mrs. Brinkley got her start working at a veterinary hospital while still in High School. She studied Veterinary Technology at Blue Ridge Community College in Weyers Cave, Virginia, graduating in 1989 with an A.A.S. Degree in Applied Science.  She has owned and operated 2 successful pet sitting businesses, but sold them so she could focus all her energy on Companion Care Veterinary Hospital.  In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her family and horse back riding.

  • Terri Williams - Receptionist

    Terri was raised in Mechanicsville, Maryland on her family's tobacco farm and graduated from Chopticon High School. She also served in the Army for 8 years. 

    After retiring from the military Terri, started working in the veterinary field in Florida as a kennel assistant and worked her way up to a hospital manager. She knew at that time she wanted to stay in the veterinary field.

    She currently resides once again on her family's farm with her finance, Bryan. She has two dogs, Sergeant and Deuce, two cats, Gracie and Doodles and one fish, Yoshi.

    In her spare time, Terri enjoys photography, going to church and spending time with her family.

    Rachel is originally from Pennsylvania and moved to Maryland in 2010. She graduated from Johnson College in 2008 and is a licensed veterinary technician. Outside of work she enjoys spending time with her family and furry friend Boscoe.

  • Kris Breeds - Veterinary Technician

    A Southern Maryland native Kris graduated from Salisbury University with a B.S. in Biology. At home her German Shepherd, Baxter and her kitty keep her busy. Outside of work she rehabilitates and trains rescued horses at S.O.F.E. (a local horse rescue group) to prepare them for adoption. She enjoys activities with her German Shepherd, Baxter.

    Zac was born and raised in Southern Maryland and graduated from Chopticon High School in 2004. After living on the Eastern Shore for 8 years he moved back to be near family and friends. He is looking forward to the fulfilling career of working with animals! In his spare time he likes to spend time loved ones including 4 cats, ages 8 months to 9 years old! Oh, and let's not forget his dozen or so fish!

    Tiffany was born and raised in St. Mary's County. She graduated from Leonardtown High School  in 2010 and is a talented violist that has been playing for 10 years. She is enjoying her new career in the veterinary field and her new best friend, Nefertiti - a guinea pig!

    Taylor has lived in Mechanicsville, Maryland all of her life. She has loved animals for as long as she can remember. At age 13, she started working at horse farms. She is an upcoming junior at Chopticon High School and has decided to join our team to further evaluate her potential career as a veterinarian.

  • Wendy Downing - Groomer

    Wendy has worked with animals most of her life. She started out riding and showing horses when she was 6 years old. Wendy has been grooming pets since 2006. She enjoys being creative and artistic working with dogs and cats. She has learned the different kinds of standard breed cuts, creativity with hair dye, and nail polish. In her spare time Wendy enjoy's spending time with her children and trail riding on her horses.

  • Valerie Crosby - Groomer Assistant

    Growing up in the Midwest inspired some of Valerie's appreciation of animal's her first fond memories include horseback riding and bottle feeding calves. While in Missouri, Valerie found her niche in learning the trade of dog grooming skills and will be providing full-service grooming soon! Valerie and her husband moved to Maryland in July 2014. In her spare time, Valerie enjoys spending time with her family, friends and serving the community with her local church.

    Karleigh was born and raised in St. Mary's County. She is currently a junior at Chopticon High School. She lives on her family's farm with horses, cattle, donkeys and her miniature pet pig, Courtney. In her free time she adores working with her two quarter horses and trail riding. She enjoys the opportunity at working with our team and pampering all the grooming pets!
